YOUR STUDENT ASSOCIATION

The University of Zurich would not exist without us students – we make up a significant part of our university!

The ideas of students are incredibly important for the future of the university – and the VSUZH (Student Union of the University of Zurich) is there to guide them to where they can be implemented. We are your official representative body at the UZH, and you can be a part of it! Whether as an elected council member, delegate, or board member, there are numerous ways to advocate for the issues that matter to you.

GET INVOLVED

We advocate for the interests of students in the council, commissions, committees, working groups, advisory groups, sounding boards, monitoring, etc.

In doing so, we rely on cooperation with the professional associations and the openness of the university, so that every single person can be heard.

The students experience daily what it means to study and quickly develop a sense of what is important for their studies and where there is potential for improvement.

The door is always open for you to get involved in the VSUZH.

AM I A MEMBER?

When you first enroll, it's quite possible you don't yet know what the VSUZH is and what it does. When you enrolled in your studies, you had the option to make three voluntary contributions:

  • Foundation "Student Loan Fund" with CHF 7

  • Foundation "Solidarity Fund for Foreign Students in Zurich" with CHF 5

  • "Membership fee for the Association of Students of the University of Zurich (VSUZH)" with CHF 14

So you might be unsure whether you're a member of VSUZH or not. However, this is very easy to check, as your membership for the current semester is always visible on your validated student ID.

Or you can check it in the student portal:

  1. Student portal

  2. My registration and personal data

  3. Contributions and memberships

HELP IS IMPORTANT

Starting university is usually associated with a lot of adjustment and new challenges. You are one of thousands of new students and you are never alone with your questions, problems or fears.

You can get help from various sources:

Fellow students

We're all in the same boat. Ask the person next to you – it might be the start of a new friendship.

Lecturers

Our lecturers have already taught many first-year students and have chosen this profession because they want to help you.

professional association

Your student association includes students with a great deal of experience and knowledge – as your representatives, they are always actively involved in supplementing your studies in the most meaningful way possible.

VSUZH

We represent you at the university-wide level and focus in particular on issues that affect us all, such as podcasts, cafeteria prices, and much more.

ReBeKo

The VSUZH Legal Advisory Committee (ReBeKo) is available to assist you with legal questions. Contact them if you have problems with your landlord, have been wrongly accused of plagiarism, or need advice for any other reason.

Nightline

Do you need someone to talk to? Nightline will take care of your worries.

Psychological counselling center

When the pressure or stress becomes too great, a visit to a psychological counseling center can be more than worthwhile.
