Housing is scarce – finding an apartment in Zurich is no easy task and can easily take several months. It is therefore highly advisable to start exploring your options early.
For information about student housing, it's a good idea to read the annual reports of the SSWZ , the Foundation for Student Housing. There you'll find the latest assessment of the housing situation for the approximately 70,000 students in Zurich.
For specific tips on finding your first apartment, we recommend taking a look at the C&A guide or the information sheet from the German Tenants' Association (MV ). These clearly describe how you, as a young person, can efficiently search for an apartment, manage the handover smoothly, and move with as little stress as possible.
Below you will find numerous providers and platforms for student housing. WOKO (Student Housing Cooperative Zurich) and JUWO (Youth Housing Network) are the two largest providers of student housing. They each offer around 4,000 rooms. WOKO was initially a commission of the student bodies of the University of Zurich (UZH) and ETH Zurich, then became a simple partnership, then an association, and is now a cooperative. JUWO rents rooms from third parties to students.
Weegee.ch is the largest Swiss platform for shared apartments and includes offers from all major shared apartment portals.

Another provider of rooms for your studies in Zurich. The somewhat old-fashioned website has been around for a long time and gives you the opportunity to search for or offer rooms for free.
The JUWO youth housing network offers affordable accommodation for young adults in education or training. With around 3,000 rooms, JUWO is one of the largest providers in Zurich.
The cooperative WOKO was founded in 1956 by UZH and ETH and offers students a total of around 3,000 rooms.
Projekt Interim offers affordable temporary solutions when finding accommodation is difficult. In addition to apartments, you can also find offices, studios, workshops, retail spaces for pop-ups, industrial halls, and special locations for film and photo shoots.
