Get involved with the Explore project!
Project Explore
Explore prepares refugees interested in studying for tertiary-level education or training. They can familiarize themselves with the content and requirements of a degree program at the University of Zurich (UZH) in order to later pursue a regular degree. The program thus contributes to the sustainable integration of refugees into the labor market, according to their potential.

How can you get involved?
Explore German Tutoring/Mentoring
In this tutoring role, you will support refugee participants with individual German language tutoring. The focus of the tutoring is on conversation and homework help, and it is intended to complement the existing course offerings. Therefore, no prior teaching experience is required. The duration, intensity, and content of the tutoring sessions are based on individual agreements. Tutoring is primarily arranged at the beginning of the semester. However, applications for student tutoring are accepted at any time. Interested students will be contacted by the project team as soon as a need arises.
We expect you to volunteer 3-4 times per month by providing tutoring support.
Study Integration Commission (SIK)
As a volunteer member of the Student Integration Commission (SIK) of the VSUZH (Association of Students at the University of Zurich), you will support the UZH Global Affairs office in implementing the project. You will help coordinate the Explore Community and thus form the link between the office and the Explore Community. You will also be responsible for organizing social activities and events within the framework of Explore.
We expect you to participate in SIK planning meetings as well as occasional meetings with the office.

What do the participants say?
"I'm participating in the program to share my experiences at UZH and support others in their academic lives. But the best part is the intercultural exchange and the opportunity to meet interesting people and hear their stories from all over the world."
Anna, mentor

Was sagen die Teilnehmenden?
"Das Projekt ist eine tolle Gelegenheit, ausserhalb des Studentenalltags neue Menschen und Kulturen kennenzulernen."
Ranim, Mentorin

Was sagen die Teilnehmenden?
"Das Projekt ist eine Chance, um Menschen mit verschiedensten Hintergründen kennenzulernen. Als Mentor besteht die Aufgabe keineswegs nur aus einem einseitigen Helfen, sondern vielmehr aus einem gegenseitigen Vermitteln von Wissen und Näherbringen der Kulturen."
